Get to know Michael

Michael was born and raised on the island of Oahu.  He attended Mililani High School then went on to the University of Hawaii.  His life has always included service to others.  As the son of a pastor, Michael volunteered for many church positions as a teenager and young adult including Sunday school teacher while he was a college student.  Later in life he joined the Diamond Head Lions Club and eventually held the positions of Club President and Zone Chair becoming the youngest zone chair in that zone’s history at the time. 

 

Michael learned about the Medicare Advantage insurance industry in 2005 and became a sales representative for United HealthCare.  Two years later Michael left UHC to become an independent broker and the founding partner in the Lum and Nakano Agency, Inc. which does business as Premier Benefit Consultants.

Michael found that working in this industry combined both his desire to help others and to have professional success into a gratifying career.  Medicare is a very complex subject and especially so for it’s beneficiaries.  Having the ability to make the confusing subject simple and understandable is what allowed him to find huge success as an insurance agent and lead to him being recognized nationally by UHC as a top performer.

Michael has been married for many years and has a young daughter that attends Punahou School.  They enjoy travelling to see America’s iconic attractions, thrill seeking and interacting with wild life.

A big thinker by nature, Michael’s dream is to build PBC into a household name in Hawaii as its Medicare specialist and trusted resource.  Determined to make this happen he plans to accomplish this by leading his team of professionals to provide reliable, knowledgeable, caring, exceptional and uncompromising service.
